Hitting Streak Sets New League Record

Tonight, Patrick's hitting streak continued on to 23 games! This sets a new league record for the American Association. What an accomplishment!

Liam is a walker!

Liam took his first steps on June 22! He really wanted to walk before that date, but I made a promise to Patrick that I would not let Liam take his first steps when he was on a road trip. So when Patrick came home from El Paso after Father's Day, Liam decided to take off! He hasn't perfected it yet, and is still getting the hang of taking 4 to 5 steps here and there. But it is so much fun watching this! ( I apologize that the video posted incorrectly, and sadly, I do not know how to correct it.)

Grandma Muffy visits and Patrick's continued success!

June 25, 2009

Grandma Muffy has been in town! We have been to see Dada play baseball every night. Last night Patrick hit a 3 run bomb. He was 3-5 on the night, continuing his hitting streak to 20 games now. Mr. Bill and Mrs. Colleen Hodges came to the game one night. Everyone loves Liam and he loves everyone. So he has lots of friends at the stadium! Miss Becky, who always makes sure we have tickets and great seats, comes up every night to see Liam. Liam and I have been adopted by Ms. Janice, who is the mom of one of the Rally Cats (cheerleader for the Cats). Ms. Janice sits with us at the games lots of nights and helps me out greatly with Liam. He loves her and her daughter Miley and her grandchildren. Hope you all are cooler than we are down here in Texas!!!!!

Happy Father's Day and Continued Hitting Streak!

June 21, 2009

Sadly, Patrick doesn't get to spend his first Father's day with Liam, as he is on the road playing baseball. He will be home tomorrow, though. Liam wore a special shirt for Dada today. And we wished Patrick a "Happy Father's Day" via skype, so at least they got to see each other.

In tonight's game against ElPaso, Patrick continued his hitting streak to 18 games. He had 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Patrick is leading the league in hits.

Uncle Ray visits!

Our good friend, Ray Redd, came to Fort Worth last night to watch Patrick play and to meet Liam for the first time.

Ray knows what huge Notre Dame fans we are. So when Liam was born, Ray sent Liam a number 83 Notre Dame jersey for Jeff Samardzija. Ray also sent Liam a couple Notre Dame sippy cups and an Irish pacifier.

I made sure Liam wore his ND jersey to the game last night to meet Ray, but it didn't take too long before the heat became unbearable. Liam was soon down to just his onesie.

Patrick had a pretty good game with a couple of hits.

In the news

Patrick is honored by the American Association this week and named as Player of the Week! Also last week, there was an interesting article about Patrick on the American Association's website. As always, I am so proud.

Here are Patrick's current stats and below are the articles.

O'Sullivan, Jung receive honors
Cats' first baseman Pat O'Sullivan and right-handed pitcher Jae Jung have received Player and Pitcher of the Week honors in the American Association, it was announced today.

O'Sullivan started the week with an eight-RBI game against Pensacola last Monday and continued his hot hitting througout the week. He batted .519 (14-for-27) with four home runs and 13 runs batted in.

Jung threw a two-hit shutout against El Paso on Friday for his second win of the season. He permitted only four baserunners in the complete-game effort.

Jung is the third Cats' pitcher to receive Pitcher of the Week honors this year, following Lee Gwaltney, who won the award twice and Aaron Crow. O'Sullivan is the first hitter to win Player of the Week honors.

LISTEN TO THIS CHIPPER: 14 RBI IN THREE-GAME STRETCH
Independent Baseball Insider (Vol. 7, No. 15, June 11, 2009 ) By Bob Wirz

By Bob Wirz

Fort Worth, TX first baseman-DH Pat O’Sullivan (pictured) had an amazing three-game stretch in which he drove in 14 runs, including eight in a single American Association affair. To put this into some type of perspective, renowned Atlantic Braves third baseman Chipper Jones recently tied his career high with five RBI in a game. The 32-year-old O’Sullivan nearly matched that count for three consecutive games.

O’Sullivan has bounced between Independent leagues and Triple-A for most of his 10-year professional career without sniffing the major leagues. He has compiled career totals of 181 homers and 723 runs batted in with the addition of his eight circuit clouts and 26 RBI (in 26 games) for the Cats this season. He is hitting .326 this year.

The right-handed hitter has been on Independent scorecards in the Texas-Louisiana and Central Leagues in addition to four of the eight active leagues. He also appeared in American Association games for Coastal Bend (Robstown, TX), was with Camden, NJ of the Atlantic League, Alexandria, LA when it was still in the United League and Schaumburg, IL of the Northern League.

Patrick drops bombs!

Tonight the Fort Worth Cats played in Pensacola against the Pelicans. What a night Patrick had! He was 4-5 with two homers (one of which was a GRAND SLAM!!!!!) and 8 RBIs. So, Patrick has homered in two games in a row! I am so proud of him,but then again, I am always proud of him. I am mostly happy for him!! I wish Liam and I could have been there to celebrate his amazing night with him!

Oh yeah, the Cats won. : )

Big Night at the Ball Park

June 7, 2009

Tonight was a great night! Liam and I headed downtown to Fort Worth to watch Patrick play, and the weather was great. A little hot, but not unbearable. It was St. Patrick's Day in June night at the park, but Liam and I didn't know (so we weren't wearing green).

Patrick was the designated hitter for the game. He had a great night with two singles and a three run homer! He had 4 runs batted in on the night. The Cats won over ElPaso 11-4 to move past them as the number one team in the South! Very exciting!

Liam had a great time dancing to the music and cheering for Dada! He also had fun meeting the Cats' mascot, Dodger, and Miss Birdie the clown. The night before, Liam met the Geico Gekko. He loves being out at the ball park every night. We went out to dinner with Patrick. Then we hung out at the stadium for a while to see Dada off on his road trip to Pensacola.
