In the news

Patrick is honored by the American Association this week and named as Player of the Week! Also last week, there was an interesting article about Patrick on the American Association's website. As always, I am so proud.

Here are Patrick's current stats and below are the articles.

O'Sullivan, Jung receive honors
Cats' first baseman Pat O'Sullivan and right-handed pitcher Jae Jung have received Player and Pitcher of the Week honors in the American Association, it was announced today.

O'Sullivan started the week with an eight-RBI game against Pensacola last Monday and continued his hot hitting througout the week. He batted .519 (14-for-27) with four home runs and 13 runs batted in.

Jung threw a two-hit shutout against El Paso on Friday for his second win of the season. He permitted only four baserunners in the complete-game effort.

Jung is the third Cats' pitcher to receive Pitcher of the Week honors this year, following Lee Gwaltney, who won the award twice and Aaron Crow. O'Sullivan is the first hitter to win Player of the Week honors.

Fort Worth, TX first baseman-DH Pat O’Sullivan (pictured) had an amazing three-game stretch in which he drove in 14 runs, including eight in a single American Association affair. To put this into some type of perspective, renowned Atlantic Braves third baseman Chipper Jones recently tied his career high with five RBI in a game. The 32-year-old O’Sullivan nearly matched that count for three consecutive games.

O’Sullivan has bounced between Independent leagues and Triple-A for most of his 10-year professional career without sniffing the major leagues. He has compiled career totals of 181 homers and 723 runs batted in with the addition of his eight circuit clouts and 26 RBI (in 26 games) for the Cats this season. He is hitting .326 this year.

The right-handed hitter has been on Independent scorecards in the Texas-Louisiana and Central Leagues in addition to four of the eight active leagues. He also appeared in American Association games for Coastal Bend (Robstown, TX), was with Camden, NJ of the Atlantic League, Alexandria, LA when it was still in the United League and Schaumburg, IL of the Northern League.
